THE CHARACTERISTICS OF STEEL DECK
1. To meet the requirements of rapid construction of the main structure steel, it can provide a stable working platform in a short period of time, and multiple floors can be laid with profiled steel panels, with a sequential flow construction of pouring concrete slabs.
2. During the service stage, the deck slab serves as the tensile reinforcement for the concrete floor slab, also increasing the stiffness of the floor slab and saving on the amount of reinforcement and concrete used.
3. The ribbed surface of the profiled panel creates the maximum bonding force between the deck slab and the concrete, forming an integral structure. Combined with stiffeners, the deck slab system achieves high-strength load-bearing capacity.
4. Under cantilever conditions, the deck slab serves only as a permanent formwork. The cantilever length can be determined based on the section characteristics of the deck slab. To prevent cracking of the cantilever slab, negative reinforcement must be provided at the supports according to the design by the structural engineer.
COMMON SPECIFICATIONS OF STEEL DECK
Steel decks are now widely used in various engineering projects, including floor systems, roof systems, and bridge decks in both residential and industrial buildings. So, what are the common specifications of corrugated steel sheets?
The composite deck sheet is made of cold-rolled steel panel (steel coil). The common specifications for the thickness of the steel panel are: 0.75mm, 0.8mm, 0.90mm, 1.0mm, 1.20mm, 1.50mm. When the steel panel thickness exceeds 1.2mm, its forming becomes more difficult, mainly because the rivets cannot penetrate and reliably connect the formed steel panel to the steel beam. Therefore, the maximum thickness of the composite deck sheet should not exceed 1.5mm. When used as a composite floor, the steel panel thickness is ≥0.75mm.
After more than 30 years of development, there are many specifications of steel decking on the market, but the commonly used unfolded widths are nothing more than the following: standard unfolded width 1190mm, standard unfolded width 1250mm, standard unfolded width 1000mm, standard unfolded width 750mm, and standard unfolded width 1085mm.
From an aesthetic perspective, the cellular deck is the most perfect. After construction, the bottom of the board is flat, and the web is tightly fitted, with an approximate gap of 3~5mm. Without a suspended ceiling, it can be directly painted to form a tongue-and-groove ceiling (similar to aluminum ceiling tiles), or it can be coated with putty and then painted with water-based paint to form a flat ceiling, or it can be directly pasted with wall fabric or wallpaper to decorate into a colored ceiling; if a suspended ceiling is installed, there is no need to drill holes or use expansion screws to secure it. Instead, simply hang two special hangers directly on the 3~5mm web fitting, and it can be fixed directly.
