Formula for calculating the price per square meter/meter of steel decking
How much does one meter of profiled steel sheet cost? How much does one square meter of steel decking cost? These are very broad questions, but they are also the ones that most customers like to ask and are most concerned about. Based on Zhonggou New Materials' long-term observation and judgment, over 90% of customers who ask these questions right away are only concerned about price and do not pay much attention to the safety and quality of the project.
So, how much does steel decking cost per square meter? To answer this, the customer needs to provide at least four pieces of information: the type of decking, its thickness, yield strength, and galvanization content. Without these four elements, Zhonggou New Materials cannot provide a quote for their steel decking.
Let's first look at the formula for calculating the price of profiled steel sheet steel decking. Example:
For 1025 type open-rid decking, the following data must first be clarified:
1. Thickness 1.0mm
2. Effective width 1.025m
3. Unfolded width: 1.25m
4. The price per kilogram is 5.0 yuan/kg, for example, 5000 yuan/ton.
Let's begin the calculations:
Thickness * Width * Density * Price per kilogram = Price per meter
The price per meter of steel decking is 1.0 * 1.25 * 7.85 * 5.0 = 49 yuan.
Thickness * Width * Density * Price per kilogram / Effective width = Unit price per square meter
The price per square meter of steel decking is calculated as follows: 1.0 * 1.25 * 7.85 * 5.0 / 1.025 = 47.8 yuan.

Below, let's elaborate on the four major factors affecting the price of steel decks.
1.steel decking type
Different types of steel sheets use different amounts of steel, and therefore have different prices. For example, what is the amount of steel used per square meter for YX76-305-915 open-rid deck and YXB65-185-555 cellular deck with a thickness of 1.5mm?
The YX76-305-915 has a feed width of 1190mm and a unit weight of:
1.5*1*1.190*7.85/0.915=15.31kg/㎡
The YXB65-185-555 feed width is 1085mm, and the unit weight is:
1.5*1*1.085*7.85/0.555=22.95kg/㎡
Therefore, under the same requirements, the price of YXB65-185-555 is more expensive than that of YXB76-305-915.
2.Steel deck thickness
For the same type of floor panel with identical requirements, thicker steel decking requires more steel and thus a higher price. Common steel panel thicknesses are 0.75mm, 0.9mm, 1.0mm, 1.2mm, and 1.5mm. When the steel panel thickness exceeds 1.2mm, forming becomes more difficult, and more importantly, studs cannot be welded through to reliably connect the profiled steel panel to the steel beam. Therefore, the maximum thickness of the profiled steel panel should not exceed 1.5mm. When used as composite floor panels, the standard specifies a steel panel thickness ≥ 0.75mm.
3. Yield strength
For the same type of steel panel, all other requirements being equal, the higher the yield strength, the higher the price. The yield strength fy of the steel panel depends on the design requirements, and is usually Q235, Q345, or Q410. Higher strength steel panels are not suitable for use as composite floor panels because the properties of the steel panel are inferior.
4. Zinc plating amount
For the same type of sheet, with other requirements remaining the same, the higher the galvanizing amount, the higher the price. Cold-rolled steel sheets (coils) used to make profiled steel sheets must be continuously hot-dip galvanized. The galvanizing amount depends on the design requirements. When designed as a non-composite floor panel, the requirements can be lowered, and generally a double-sided galvanizing amount of 175g/㎡ or (180g/㎡) is sufficient. When designed as a composite floor panel, the "Design and Construction of Steel-Concrete Composite Floor Structures" stipulates that a double-sided galvanizing amount of 275g/㎡ is required, and higher coating requirements can also be adopted.
Knowing the above information that is closely related to pricing, Zhonggou steel decking manufacturers can give you an accurate quote. For example, high-strength, high-zinc materials are more expensive than ordinary-strength, ordinary-zinc materials; also, choosing materials from Bao steel is significantly more expensive than choosing materials from Han Steel. Therefore, it is essential to know this information before inquiring about prices.
